Flexibility has never been so important to us - my journey has only just started but already it is inspiring and motivating and has reignited a spark within me.

Eleanor is proud mummy to two young children and she has taken the mighty leap of focusing on her career and journey to find flexibility to suit her family life.  Having worked flexibly herself, and managed flexible teams, Eleanor has over 20 years senior HR experience and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Personnel Development.

Eleanor acknowledges that "flexibility has never been so important to us - my journey has only just started but already it is inspiring and motivating and has reignited a spark within me".

As mummy to two young children, the transition to working mum brought new challenges and posed the questions many of us face of how to go back to work full time:

  • Shall I be a stay a home mum for a while?

  • If I do will I struggle to get back into work?

  • Shall I look to work more locally?

  • Should I ask for part time hours?

  • Will I be able to follow my dream to become a mumpreneur?

  • Can I juggle a combination of all these things?

Eleanor learnt so many things after returning to work four days a week (after having her little boy), things she wished she had known before - like that ‘mum guilt’ never really goes away, it just evolves.  She also recognises that what worked, as a first time mum returning to work doesn’t necessarily suit second time around, especially with the added complexity of school hours to accommodate!

So, having waved goodbye to the long hours and tiring commute that working in London brought, Eleanor created Flexible Working Mums Hertford and is very successfully shining the light on what flexible working is and means.
