Why Every New Mum Deserves Pelvic Health Support: Our C-Section & Recovery Sessions Round-Up
The postnatal period – often called the fourth trimester – is a time of huge change, both physically and emotionally. And yet, for so many new mums, it’s also the time when we’re left with the least support. At 6 Week Social, one of the most important sessions we run is our pelvic health and c-section recovery workshop – and the response we’ve had across Harpenden, Hitchin, Hertford, and Berkhamsted shows just how needed it is.

The Problem With the Traditional 6 Week Check
For most new mums, the only formal postnatal follow-up is the GP 6 week check. And while it’s a crucial step, it's often rushed and doesn’t go anywhere near deep enough when it comes to assessing your pelvic floor, core healing, or scar recovery after a c-section.
We believe that all mums deserve more than a five-minute conversation. That’s why we’ve partnered with expert pelvic health physiotherapists and Mummy MOT specialists across Hertfordshire – to give new mothers the in-depth support they actually need.
Why Pelvic Health Matters
Whether you’ve had a vaginal birth or a c-section, pregnancy and labour put immense pressure on your pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, and overall posture. Left unaddressed, this can lead to issues like:
Leaking when you sneeze or run
Pelvic or back pain
Pain during intimacy
A general feeling of disconnection or weakness in your core
These are not things you should just “put up with” — and yet so many mums do, because they’ve never been told otherwise.
Our sessions are all about changing that.
The Power of the Mummy MOT
A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal check-up with a women’s health physio. It looks at:
How well your pelvic floor is functioning
Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)
C-section or perineal scar healing
Posture, breathing and core control
We believe every woman should be offered one as standard after birth. It’s why we bring amazing, trusted local experts into our sessions — so mums can understand their bodies, ask the questions they didn’t even know they had, and leave feeling empowered.
Why Self-Care Isn’t Optional
Caring for your body in the postnatal period isn’t vanity – it’s vital. When we help mums feel stronger, more comfortable, and more confident, the ripple effect on family life is huge.
At 6 Week Social, we’re passionate about making this kind of support normal. These sessions aren’t about fixing anything — they’re about giving you knowledge, tools, and confidence.
To the mums who’ve joined us in Harpenden, Hitchin, Hertford and Berko: thank you for prioritising yourselves. We hope you left knowing you are not alone, and that help is out there.
And to those still navigating this part of the journey – we see you, and we’re here when you’re ready.
You deserve more than a tick-box 6 week check. You deserve to feel good in your body.
If you'd like to learn more about our upcoming courses or connect with one of our trusted Mummy MOT specialists, drop us a message – we’d love to support you.
